Mathias Tsado and the challenge to fix Nigeria’s economy by Francis Onyema

Recently Nigeria demanded an immediate restructuring and expansion of the UN Security Council (UNSC) permanent membership to correct the injustices meted out against Africa in the composition of the prestigious 15-member body.
Whereas this call may sound morally right, what we must realize is that like freedom, power is not given, it is fought for. The UNSC permanent members represent the five great powers considered to be the victors of World War II. China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and the US are States that had vigorously developed and diversified their economies to transcend the global power hierarchy. These are States whose economic policies typifies the advancement in technology and improvement in their armaments. They are States who realize that power is the ultimate determinant in human society and implies the ability to defend one's interests and if necessary to impose one's will by any means available.

Thus, we must realize that just as it is difficult for the W…

A new Nigeria is truly possible by Mathias Tsado

I think majority of Nigerians see politics as a lucrative business, the rate at which everyone focuses on the pie is really disheartening as well as frightening, the main objectives of leadership is being relegated to the background and the quest for wealth, fame and prestige is now running the space.

Everyone is being encouraged to run for office regardless of whether he or she possesses the right qualities and leadership skills, people are clamouring for more shares of power, resources and raw national wealth, no one seem to be concerned about the responsibility of the offices they seek to occupy.

A lot has gone wrong over the years, government has always been seen as a pot of porridge, so everyone comes with forks and knives to help themselves to a fill, it has also been seen as a turn by turn scenario where a man and his cronies come at a point and run the shows while others wait outside and salivate praying profusely for their turn to come.

The biggest crime in all of these is t…

PDP cannot deceive Deltans anymore - Oyibode

Q: For the sake of our reading public, we would want to know you and have an insight into your background before your current status as APC Chieftain?

Thank you very much.

I'm Chief Dr (Amb) Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode, an Ndokwa son from Ezionum Kingdom. For those who may not know, Ezionum Kingdom is one of the Ndokwa Nations in Delta State. So, I am a proud Deltan born. I am a dispute resolution specialist and an ambassador for peace. I am also a real estate consultant.

I established and founded the Gabriel Oyibode Foundation (GOF) in 2013 given my conviction that we could build peace globally through humanitarian efforts of providing for the less privileged and downtrodden of the society. You know all fingers are not equal and the Bible admonishes us to be our brother's keeper. Even before GOF was legally registered in 2013, I have been involved in the humanitarian service for more than a decade. Registering it was to give it a face and a legal recognition as deemed fit.

The most bizarre trophy parade in football history as defender strips naked?

Lillestrom defender Aleksander Melgalvis Andreassen has pulled a stunt that seems the most outrageous celebration in football history following his side’s cup win in 10 years.
Lillestrom beat Sarpsborg 3-2 to clinch the Norwegian cup for the sixth time and Andreassen had a surprise for his teammates and fans during the trophy parade.
The 28-year-old Andreassen decided to strip naked during the trophy parade and had to use the cup to cover his genital.

Andreassen colleagues were pictured in the background completely stunned by the defender's antics.

This leaves a question if it will be the most bizarre trophy parade in the history of football.

Chelsea fans can now smile as star defender is cleared to join the Stamford Bridge club in January

Antonio Conte is on the brink of getting his man as there emerges strong indications that Brazilian left-back has been cleared to join Chelsea FC in the January transfer market should he opt for a move.

Juventus' Alex Sandro, who has remained a target of Conte, is believed to be free to switch the Turin club for Stamford Bridge should he indicate his future lies somewhere else according to Juve director Beppe Marotta.

With the Sandro eager to link up with Antonio Conte at Chelsea, the Blues fans should be certainly excited as the Brazilian would definitely fit into the wing-back role at Chelsea bringing some sense of defensive and attacking solidity to the side.

What remains to be seen is that if the Chelsea hierarchy will be willin…

Chelsea January Transfer Target Emerges Amongst Strikers yet to Score a Premier League Goal this Season

With reports emerging that Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, is not pleased with striker Michy Batshuayi performance so far, it seems the Italian has identified a Premier League star to bolster the much shrunk squad though the former Juventus trainer's choice striker appears a little awkward.

Antonio Conte is said to fancy the chance to recruit Christian Benteke, who's yet to score a Premier League goal in his last nine outings for Crystal Palace, in order to boost his attacking options and sustain the momentum to catch up with Guardiola's City.

Benteke has proven to be a mid-table team player as his only stint with a top club, Liverpool, was underwhelming and turned out to be a failure.

This raises questions whether Benteke can make the grade at Stamford Bridge and force his way through to compete with Alvaro Morata for a starting berth.

Meanwhile, Benteke is not alone in the category of Premier League players yet to score this season despite featuring for their respective cl…

Real Reason Messi and Neymar May Have Strained Relationship

Lionel Messi may never get along well enough with Brazilian superstar, Neymar, who forced through a move to join PSG last summer, as evidence emerges that may have strained the relationship between the duo.

Messi and Neymar shared a hugely successful partnership playing in attack together alongside Luis Suarez at Barcelona but it seems their relationship may have been strained after Neymar posed for a photograph with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports in Spain suggests that the relationship between the superstars is "deterioating" after Neymar posed with Cristiano Ronaldo in Best Awards. Neymar was pictured in a cheerful mood with Cristiano Ronaldo alongside his father as Ronaldo pipped the Argentine to the Best Footballer Award.
Messi is said to have been offended by Neymar who apparently supported Ronaldo during the prominent award.
