#LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain: Participant proposes award of scholarships to the first child of Nigerian soldiers

One of the participants in the ongoing Let's Get Nigeria Working Again policy initiative competition sponsored by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has proposed the award of scholarships to the first child of every serving Nigerian soldier.

Francis Onyema, whose full name is Nnana Onyemaechi Francis, in a one minute video posted on his Facebook Wall, proposed that Atiku Abubakar will “sponsor an Executive Bill to be passed into law the award of scholarships to the first child of every serving Nigerian soldier.”

This singular policy, if adopted by Atiku Abubakar, if elected in 2019, will definitely boost the morale of our fighting soldiers whose families are not well compensated when they ultimately pay the “supreme price.”

The Nigerian soldiers have often suffered the fate of inadequate welfare packages as many of them lament that they do not duly get what is their entitlement due to corruption in the military.

Our great nation has been bedeviled by insecurity and economic downturn, made worse by porous borders.
Light and heavy weapons are illegally shipped into the country without interception. On the other hand, local investors are driven out of business given the influx of foreign goods.

Overall, to address the ugly menace of insecurity in the country, Atiku Abubakar will:

1) Create National Border Towers (NBTs) to provide security surveillance on our borders.

2) Improve online border monitoring centres to bridge the gap of border intelligence gathering.

3) Ensure that the arms of our national security forces are mightier so that no potential aggressor would be willing to risk its own destruction.

4) Pursue a policy of equal and even development across the six Geo-political zones of our nation in order to address the agitations emerging from these regions.

5) Advocate for capital punishment for arms dealers proven guilty beyond every reasonable doubt.
