Like Senegal, Nigeria must do more to defeat Coronavirus

If Senegal succeeds with the Covid 19 $1 (N360) test kit, they would emerge from this pandemic better. Apart from the kits being affordable, the innovation behind it is yet to be matched anywhere in the world. A ten minutes test kit, that is a replica of the home-used pregnancy test, is the game changer in the fight against Covid 19.

The Covid 19 pandemic has created a huge market in the medical sector. The demand for medical equipment and consumables remains high globally. Africa alone presents a market of over 500 million test kits, an opportunity for Senegal.

The interesting thing is that Senegal is proving to be truly independent, at the crucial time when nations must look inward in the fight against the novel coronavirus. While the West African nation of 16m people is setting the pace globally in the race against the novel coronavirus, Nigeria, the giant of Africa, is lagging behind.

The Governor of Delta state, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has been enjoined to take advantage of the 2 weeks sit at home order by him on the residents of the state to fumigate the entire state as a strong preventive measure against the dreaded Coronavirus.
This charge was given by the Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide AYFW in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Nnamdi Ofonye and made available to newsmen in Asaba on Friday.
The group noted that ordering residents out of their normal and daily means of livelihood is not enough despite being one of the measures adopted across the world to break the chain of the virus, if other stringent measures are not initiated and implemented using the window, it will amount to a wasted opportunity if such actions are not taken before the expiration of the lock down.
