Press Statement: Kachikwu has offered clear-cut leadership in Delta APC

Contrary to a publication making the rounds on social media that Dr Ibe Kachikwu, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources is “sitting on the fence” as relates to the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, we wish to address the general public on this deceitful allegation against our principal.

For clarity sake, it is important to correct the misrepresentation of facts about the role of the Honourable Minister in building a formidable party in Delta State vis-a-vis his contributions to the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates.

As an appointee of President Muhammadu Buhari and a leader of the party in Delta State, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has offered clear-cut leadership insights towards resuscitating the structures of the APC in order to win elections in the State. The Honourable Minister has left no stone unturned in positioning the party to win elections especially through funding it. He has done this without bias and in su…

Will Okowa pay the price for PDP jockey? by Francis Onyema

Since the creation of Delta State in 1991 and a return to full democracy in 1999, PDP has remained at the helm of affairs in the State. They have seen the baton of the State's leadership exchange hands between Chief James Ibori, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, the incumbent governor.
The emergence of the past governors of the State and the incumbent governor meant one man was constantly at the losing end - Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru. Although it emerges Ogboru did not lose all of the elections he contested in but was robbed of victory because of national support for the then ruling party (PDP), at the centre.

The PDP struggle by every available means to capture and consolidate power was embodied in the party's mastery of the rigging act, the intimidation of voters, vote buying and violence. The PDP got away with what they wanted with the backing of the federal might wielded by…

Fielding unpopular candidates will add no electoral value to President Buhari - APC Chieftain

A Delta North senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the supposed to be held October APC senatorial primaries, Ambassador Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode has made it clear that the APC would find it difficult to get the required votes to deliver President Muhammadu Buhari, in the 2019 Presidential Election, if the party adopts a system of fielding unpopular candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Amb. Oyibode who described the exercise that produced Hon. Doris Uboh as the Delta North APC senatorial candidate as a “kangaroo election” alleged that he was illegally excluded from the contest after he duly completed the processes as required by the constitution of the party and by law to vie for the party's Delta North senatorial ticket. He stated that unpopular candidates, who emerged from a process that is at best a mockery of democracy, would add no electoral value to the reelection of President Buhari in 2019.

From our findings, Amb Oyibode duly obtained the APC …

Ndokwa people central to the Fix Ndokwa drive as Ogokuni pledges to fight unemployment through constituency intervention programmes

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives hopeful of the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Barr Sylvester Ogokuni, is set on a selfless mission to transform Ndokwa land.

The movement which is resonating across every community of Ndokwa nation is encapsulated by the ‘Fix Ndokwa’ mantra as Barr Ogokuni is determined to heal the wounds of the Ndokwa people, perpetuated by selfish politicians, who do not have the interest of the people at heart.

In an interactive session with the Abbi born legal luminary, Barr Sylvester Ogokuni laid bare the driving force and the ideology of the Fix Ndokwa initiative.

According to him, the ideology embodies the passion to fight the Ndokwa cause and the compassion for mankind. He made it clear the only means to achieve this is by positively influencing laws and policies, and using constituency intervention programmes to address the needs of Ndokwa people, and bringing Federal Government visible presence to Ndokwa land.

“What are the …

Kemmer Emina lauds Buhari’s railway revolution

As residents jubilate, following the arrival of the first passenger train to Delta State some days ago, a leading Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency aspirant, Hon Kemmer Brightson Emina, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his developmental stride.

The APC chieftain, who hails from Ebu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, emphasized that the railway project embarked upon by President Buhari would boost economic activities across the nation and bring about the ease of transportation of goods and services within the key sectors of the economy.

“I wish to commend our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the foresight and tenacity that sprung the railway project across major cities of our nation and which is geared towards intertwining various sectors of the economy.

“It is of note that Mr President extended this massive development to our state as we hope the 154-kilometer Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri standard gauge line would be set for commercial operations by Se…

Attention! The Nigerian Legislative Arm

Dear Distinguished Lawmakers,
It is important to remind you, once again, that the Legislature is supposed to be the symbol of our democracy, yet, it is one institution that has held us back in many ways. This is given the fact that the interests of the ruling class have become more sacrosanct in the discharge of your legislative duties, as lawmakers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, over the interests of the common Nigerian masses. The summon of the IGP over the “undignified" manner the Police treated Senator Dino Melaye, despite the ongoing massacre of the Benue people for more than 12 months, ascertains this claim.
Meanwhile, today, President Muhammadu Buhari demystified the mystery that has held us back by encouraging that the Legislature should provide the legal framework for the anti-corruption war to be sustained. His words: “Permit me to also seize this opportunity to call on the Legislature which provides the legal framework for the anti-corruption war to add more verve …

PDP targets Ogboru to remain in power in Delta State, APC must act fast by Francis Onyema

"Meanwhile, a reliable source in the PDP has it that the “game plan" of the Okowa loyalists is simply to throw a monkey wrench into the APC party affairs in order to ensure that Cairo Ojougboh, whom the PDP chieftains believe has an axe to grind with his former party, nor Ochei, who's a popular figure in the APC, does not emerge as the APC gubernatorial candidate of Delta State in 2019"

-Francis Onyema
As the 2019 Elections beckons, the political intrigues are manifesting as the People's Democratic Party (PDP) had orchestrated a plan to consolidate power in Delta State. The plan is simple. The All Progressives Congress (APC) must remain as an opposition party in the state and Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, the APC governorship aspirant in the state, is the cog of what the PDP political juggernauts describe as “the masterplan".
The plan, as designed by the PDP elites, who are diehard supporters of Gov Ifeanyi Okowa, targets Ogboru as the weak link to overcome the A…

Dododo did a disservice to Ogboru, Ali and Delta State APC by Francis Onyema

“In all these, Dododo accepted the ‘token' given to him, did his ‘mago-mago’ illegitimately and without proficiency; he was finally sacked by the APC NWC. My sympathy goes to his paymasters.”
One of the major intrigues of party politics is the jostling for the heart and soul of the party, by well placed party leaders, through a legitimate process of party congresses. It is through the congresses the party executives are elected and, as it is known, party men whose stooges emerge after the congresses determines “who gets what, when and how" within the party.
It is against this backdrop that potentials of cooperation and harmony, in most congresses and what seem to be an internal party affairs, are substituted for crass manoeuvrability, disdain politicking and, to sum it all, the illegitimate approaches to the party congresses.
These unacceptable strategies were all allegedly employed by the joint forces of Chief Great Ogboru, a foremost APC gubernatorial aspirant and his collab…

The poor are under attack as Okowa plans to ban the use of Keke in Asaba, Warri by Francis Onyema

“The poor are under attack. Yet war has not been declared on poverty.” -Anonymous
The oppression of the people; hoodwinked economic ideologies; wanton brutality of the masses by forces meant to protect them and non accountability of public office holders; among other virulent failings, are the rewards Nigerians get from elected representatives entrusted with the resources of the nation and enjoys the goodwill of the people to turn the country's economic predicaments around.
Worst still, in a false posture, the oligarchs bamboozle the masses to believe that the resources of the State is a collective commonwealth, but in the real sense, economic policies are enunciated to address their needs first, leaving the masses in disarray and untold hardship. Otherwise, how would one explain that the punishment for kidnapping is death sentence whereas the punishment for corruption, that is the mother of all societal vices, is a mere jail term? It goes to show the parochial sentiments of these e…

Why Dr Cairo Ojougboh ticks the boxes as APC gubernatorial candidate by Francis Onyema

It is clear that the APC governorship quest is, by and large, of a formidable opposition, to rescue Delta State from the grip of corruption, porous economic ideology and impunity as propagated by the PDP over the years.
In the dynamism of Delta State politics, Chief Dr Cairo Ojougboh stands tall. He is an enigma of the state's political wave; an astute strategist whose political clout is undoubtedly unrivalled and extends well beyond the South-South region in general.
Dr Ojougboh’s close associates describe him as a “goal getter”, a man whose charisma and leadership style are enough to win passionate followers across board and from every nook and cranny of the nation. Amongst his disciples are the high and mighty, the finest of society, political juggernauts and the common masses, for whom he believes deserve a fair share of equity & justice.
His defection from the whittling People's Democratic Party (PDP), in September, 2017, to the All Progressives Congress, signaled an end…

Anioma people are not beggars, Delta North must resist Ned Nwoko and his many lies by Francis Onyema

With the 2019 General Elections fast drawing close, politicians are at the peak of their power of propaganda and telling beautiful lies, in view of galvanizing support to actualize their selfish dreams, at the detriment of the unsuspecting masses.
One of such lies, is the declaration of a former federal lawmaker representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency from 1999 to 2003, Prince Ned Nwoko, who promises to donate his entire salary and emoluments to selected groups in the Delta North Senatorial District if elected.
“I, Ned Nwoko hereby, state that when elected, that my entire salary and emoluments, while at the Senate, shall be donated to selected and verified needy and widows in Anioma land,” Ned Nwoko, the PDP senatorial aspirant declared.

Oyibode to restore the Delta North pride in the Senate by Francis Onyema

As Chief Dr Amb. Gabriel Chukwuma Oyibode sensationally declared his interest to represent the Delta North Senatorial District, in the 2019 General Elections, confidence is high that at last the Delta North Senatorial District will get the quality representation, at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, that is desired by the people of the region.

The Delta North Senatorial District are indeed yearning for quality representation in the Senate as the crop of past and present Legislators have all done their bits in terms of lawmaking but their efforts are, at best, not good enough to put the zone on the path of robust development.

In order to resolve the problems confronting the zone, especially those of insecurity, inadequate healthcare and unemployment, there's the need for a pragmatic approach of ingenious lawmaking in a bid to foster peaceful and collective development of the Anioma people.

It is believed that the most powerful mechanism to drive development in any society…

Jose Mourinho explains why he shook the hands of Antonio Conte despite a running feud

Man Utd's Jose Mourinho has spoken out as to why he could not ignore shaking the hands of his Chelsea counterpart and rival, Antonio Conte, at Old Trafford.

Mourinho ensured no further questions are asked about his running feud with Antonio Conte, by walking over to the Chelsea boss to perform the handshake rituals expected of football managers.

It seemed both coaches would fight dirty, with Conte leading his Chelsea side to Old Trafford, following a history of altercation between the duo but Mourinho buried the hatchet with the man he lambasted for match fixing during his time at Italian side Siena.

Jose Mourinho explained that there was need for Antonio Conte and himself to move on from their feud and respect each other as top managers.

More emphatically Jose Mourinho said that Conte and himself are not 'ordinary people in football.' The more reason for mutual respect between the two rivals.

'That is what me and Antonio want to show everyone. The handshake before an…

Protest Power, the Uniben Five, and the Tyranny of a Vice Chancellor by David Ademule

"Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The world we live in today is, frankly, shaped by protests, by the voices of people who refused to melt away under the blazing fire of oppression. In fact, no human civilization has progressed beyond its protests. The vehicle of progress in any society is fueled by the oil of protests. There are thousands of instances in history where protests  shaped the destiny of a people, giving hope to generations yet unborn.

America is largely free today from racial discrimination and segregation because a woman named Rosa Parks protested. She stood for her rights by sitting down and refusing to vacate her seat for a white woman. Martin Luther King and other people of good conscience would later lead protests and marches against racial segregation until the American supreme court declared it unconstitutional. It is now history that a black man once sat in the white hous…

Special Valentine's day gifts that would melt her heart by Francis Onyema

Making a decision on perfect Valentine's day gifts for your girlfriend could be a little bit difficult regardless how long you'd known her or you both had dated.

It is the same for couples who are legally married. The husband is left to ponder on which Valentine gifts to lavish on the wife. It is indeed a magical moment of love that you really wanna reignite the lovely passion you continually share.

Obviously your goal is to get best romantic Valentine gifts for her and most often you want that to come as a surprise. But you do not know that Valentine's day romantic gifts to make her fall deeply in love with you, even more.

I interviewed my best male friends on what Valentine's day gift ideas they had in mind to lavish on their girlfriends, and I got all sorts of funny replies.

The most remarkable reply I got was from my buddy, Caleb, who sarcastically said that he doesn't even bother his head with buying romantic Valentine day gift for her; after all Nigerian girls d…
